You might have been told about guardianship in the traditional sense, but there are other factors to consider when it comes to legal guardianship:  the purpose of guardianship, how to determine when guardianship is no longer in the best interest of the person, powers of attorney, representative payees, special needs trusts, limited guardianship, the restoration of a person’s rights, and supported decision-making agreements as an alternative.
