Regional Guardianship Specialist

Position Status: Full- Time

Location: Triad

Education Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in the field of psychology, social work, special education, or other field related to disabilities, the elderly, or substance abuse, or graduation from a four-year college or university in an unrelated field and two years’ experience in special education, social work, psychology, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience Requirements: The individual must have at least three years of supervisory and management experience.  Must possess strong computer skills and have the ability to use electronic systems for agency requirements.  Must be able to work under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with protégés who can become verbally abusive and physically violent.

Responsibilities: Provide direct supervision/monitoring and support to Area Guardianship Specialists in assigned region, including training, monitoring of documentation, and productivity requirements in accordance with contractual obligations and agency policy. Provide consultation to Area Specialists, the Protégé Review Committee (PRC), and others in regard to policies and procedures governing LIFEguardianship Supports and Services.  Coordinate and follow up on the protégé referral process.  Develop and implement plans of correction regarding annual monitoring or other reviews by the state DAAS office, or other contractual entities.  Serve as staff to a Protégé Review Committee (receives/approves agenda items, prepares agenda, reviews and edits minutes, ensures preparation and distribution of agenda and minutes, meeting notices, etc.), as needed and assigned. Also, serve as staff to other LIFEguardianship committees as assigned and coordinate committee activities. Provide basic education and consultation to the general public as needed through individual conversations and presentations.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities: Providing breaks for caregivers, assistance with personal care, teaching skills to increase independence, promoting inclusion in the community. Related experience in direct care or special education is preferred but not required. Creativity, progressive thinking, strong advocacy skills, and knowledge of community resources are highly desirable. Qualified applicants must be 18 or older, current driver's license, and pass background checks.
